The Swing

The Swing by Nimue has been one of my favorite designs for a long time. As I tend to do, this has been a WIP for quite some time, but since I am working on finishing as many projects as possible to go into my “gallery” in our spare bedroom, it was time to finish this one up. The fabric was a one of a kind that I picked up along the way, but I think it works beautifully for him. There are tiny little jingle bells at the base of the ropes holding the swing and tiny green beads at the end of his wings. Can’t decide on framing yet, but I’m working on it!

  1. Oh my gosh, Johanna. That little baby is so adorable! This is a very nice piece and I LOVE the added twine and bells to the swing. I love it when a little something 3-d can be added to a piece (other than beads) and this is so sweet! The fabric you chose is perfect-looks like it was made for the pattern. What count is it? Excellent job. I’d love to see how you decide to frame it. Post again when you do.

  2. I stitched this last year for a friend’s new baby. It’s a beautiful design but the backstitch, ropes and lianas were so fiddly!! Congratulations on finishing it. Looking forward to seeing how you frame your’s.
